Huntersville was incorporated in 1873, and is believed to have been named for Robert Boston Hunter, a large land owner and cotton farmer. The land around was ripe for farming, and with close proximity to a railroad, the town quickly grew. The Town of Huntersville, North Carolina is one of the towns around Lake Norman, nearly 12 miles north of Charlotte. The town’s population is approximately 50,458 as of 2013 census. Huntersville provides access to Lake Norman and its 520 miles of shoreline where residents can find access to the lake by visiting Blythe Landing Park, off NC Highway 73 to launch boats and other recreational activities. There are several golf courses: They are the Arnold Palmer-designed Birkdale Golf Club, semi-private Skybrook Golf Club and the private Northstone Country Club. You can find beautiful homes in these great golf communities. Birkdale Village, an outdoor mixed-use development with shopping, movie theater, restaurants is such a nice place to go especially in the spring and summer where local bands play by the fountain.
